Hurricane Sandy

Well, this was the extent of the damage in our backyard due to hurricane Sandy.  2 toys blown off the deck and into my flower beds.  Thankfully we didn't seem to get the intense wind they were calling for - we are certainly very blessed to have mild weather here in Hamilton!

Flipping Around

Like any 3 year old, Sara loves to crank up the music and dance around the room.  Lately she's been adding some new moves to her dances - flips!  This kid has no fear and loves climbing, jumping and now flipping around.  Although I cringe (and mostly look the other way) every time she flips, I have to remind myself that she's short (closer to the ground) and her limbs are slightly more "bendy" than mine are (and have ever been I think!).  Gymnastics might be in her future....

Popsicle Anyone?

Sara wasn't about to complain when I handed her a popsicle today - although cold outside and summer being long over, she took was she could get!  (lucky for her I was in a cleaning mood and cleaned out the freezer!)

We Interrupt Our Regular Programming for this Special Announcement...

We all have our "blond" moments - usually little things that don't really affect anyone but ourselves.  It's the big ones that reach out to our family and friends that we'll remember and be reminded of for a very long time!!
Lucky me, I decided that it would be one of those bigger episodes this morning.
I think we've all forgotten our keys at some point - but, really, when prepared properly, it's no big deal when the spare is safely tucked away in it's "secret spot".
Except that the last time the keys were forgotten, the spare key was put on my key chain (with all intentions of being put back properly "soon" so that I'd be prepared for the next episode) - then put in my purse - now still sitting in the house - behind locked doors.
So, there I sat this morning, in the garage with my 4 kids ready to go to school - but completely stuck.  No keys, no cell phone to call anyone, all doors and windows tightly locked.
Thankfully my neighbour was still home (she left for an appointment 5 minutes after I used her phone!).  I called Alvar at work (did you know that you can turn red in the face even when talking on the phone?) and admitted my "blond moment" to him - asked him to come home so I could get into the house.  Then I had to get the phone number for my very good friend Karen (I should know that number - but alas...my memory was failing in this stressful situation - I was happy enough that I remembered Alvar's cell number at work!!). Karen was willing to pick up my kids to bring them to school AND call the school (again, a number I should know, but nope...not today!) to report my "moment" to the secretary as the reason why my kids were going to be late today.
**sigh**
I hope the rest of the day moves forward in the brain usage today - I think I need a vacation!!

Missed Moments

I'm not even sure anymore why Sara decided to pose this way.  I think she might have been embarrassed with the fact that I pulled out the camera to catch a "cute" moment.  Better luck next time for me to catch her cuteness!

GEMS Pancake Breakfast

After many weeks of planning, our GEMS girls' group put on our annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser today.  People steadily came through the buffet lines for food and the girls had a good time serving, clearing tables, doing dishes and handing out candies for the morning.  We thank God for the turnout we had, and for the money we could raise for our group along with the Christian School in Maceio, Brazil!

Does Your Vacuum Smile at you?

I pulled out the vacuum today to find that it was looking back at me.
With a smile.
Weird.
Hmm...I think I like the smiley face better.
Anyone know why Alvar doodled on our vacuum cleaner?

On Fire

No adjusting on this picture - this was the colour of the sky tonight (plus a couple rainbows in the East to boot).  Wow - the beauty of God's creation was certainly in full colour tonight!

Advantages

So Sara innocently asked my Mom to read through the "Where's Waldo" book with her today.  I neglected to tell my Mom that Sara is a pro at that book already and knows where every single Waldo is on each page, almost before the page is completely turned!  Oh to have a memory like that at my age now!!

Danielle and Timothy's Wedding

Today Danielle and Timothy were married!  We had the privilege of witnessing their vows and then celebrating with their family and friends at the reception. We had a really good time, the reception was very well done, tasteful and very enjoyable over all.  Congratulations to Danielle and Timothy as you begin your lives together today - with Christ as your centre and surrounded with family and friends - we pray that God blesses your marriage and gives you a long happy life together!
Part of the reception activities was to have pictures taken while dressed up in crazy outfits.  How fun is that!!
 What a lovely family :)
Good friends having good times together!
Isn't this the kind of picture you want hanging on your wall at home?  I can arrange copies if anyone would like ;)
And, one of the only "decent" pictures I took at the wedding - sorry Danielle and Timothy, I guess your true sides are coming out on the blog today!!
