Growing Up
This is a picture of a 5 year old girl who can barely contain her happiness :) Anna enjoyed a morning at kindergarten today - just a taste of what's to come in September. I think it's going to be a long summer for her as she can't wait to finally go to school!

The End of a Chapter
I've been watching this family of birds now for a couple weeks - and yesterday was the end of the baby bird faze...the kids have flown the coop!
Baby bird calling out to it's mother - I think he was telling her it was time to go!
I missed the actual leaving of the nest - but saw him yet on the ground - not quite ready to fly off yet!
I thought I'd check out the rest of the babies, see how far they were. Well, apparently I missed the fact that they had already left! So, we are empty nesters around here - at least it's safe to go outside with the camera again - no more dive-bombing mama's for me to contend with anymore!
Face Painting
On Monday we enjoyed a 60 year anniversary celebration at our church. We had a bit of a program in church first with singing and little speeches etc. and ended with a bbq in the parking lot. The kids also were able to get their face painted. Anna waited pretty much an hour to get hers done - there was only one face painter (although very talented!!). By the time she was done she missed out on food (she refused to leave that line-up!) and it was pretty much time to go home and take a shower :( I promised to take a picture so she could have a lasting memory of her face!

Feast
I'm fairly certain this little ant went home a BIG HERO today...check out the meal he's bringing to his family -
this spider could probably feed them for a month! It took him a good part of the afternoon to trek his prize to his home (which, I'm not even sure he seemed to remember where it was...he was zig-zagging all over the patio!). Never-the-less, as long as it took, it was an interesting watch - amazing how much weight he could carry - I guess it's true that ants can carry up to 50 times their own weight!

Canoeing
What a gorgeous day today - we took full advantage of the sun - frisbee golf with friends this morning, baseball practice at the park early this afternoon and we finished off the day with canoeing down at Princess Point with the kids (well, Alvar did...Sara and I went for a walk and took pictures of them canoeing).
I hope we have a few more days like this in between the rainy ones!!

Closer
There's 3 little baby robins in this nest as far as I can tell - and this will probably be as good as it gets with pictures ;) I don't want the mother bird to abandon her babies on account of me getting a picture!

Angry Mama
I've been keeping an eye on this mama robin as it sits on her nest in our pergola. When she's not there, she's gathering worms for her babies or just sitting and guarding her babies close by on the fence.
Today I ventured out with the camera hoping to get a picture of the chirping babies. Mama Robin did NOT like this at all. I don't think I've heard such a squawking commotion by a bird before! And if it hadn't been for the pergola, she would have dive bombed me and probably pecked me pretty good too to let me know that I was most definitely not welcome to take pictures of her babies.
So, this is my picture for today. Taken inside, behind glass, zoomed in to the max of the mama bird - I didn't even get a decent shot of the babies for all my trouble!!
Maybe tomorrow I'll try again....

The Flu Has Finally Left This Building!
Sara's FINALLY over the flu...only took a week!
I don't think I've ever seen her eat as much as she has been today...lots of pointing to the pantry for her :)

Random Pictures From My Garden
I might have mentioned this before to a few people...and I'll say it again....I REALLY can't wait till my garden is in full bloom so I know what is all in there! So many things plants are poking up their heads now - I've been lucky to have a couple people help me out with the possibilities of what is in there (I think I know what a good portion of the garden is now, but sometimes I can't tell the difference between a weed and a flower!) - to see the final product will be nice!

Monday Night Swimming
This is the only decent shot (indoor pool pictures are not my strong point - they are always fuzzy or dark or the kids have their mouths open ;)
Monday nights are swim nights here...the 3 older ones all have their lessons from 6-7pm. Although super busy...at least they are all done in one shot!

My First Puzzle
Last weekend Lois, Laura and I got together to make our own picture puzzles.
Alvar cut the puzzle pieces - Lois printed the pictures
I did one picture of each grandchild from my side of the family
It was a fun project - I look forward to some more crafty stuff in the future Lois and Laura :)

Auchmar House
We took advantage of Open Doors Hamilton and visited the Auchmar House today. Despite the fact that the house is in desperate need of upkeep - it was still very interesting to walk thru and see all the detail that was put into ceilings, walls and doors. They hope to some day have the house fully restored, I would love to be around to see the finished product! Below are a bunch of pictures from the tour.
