Me Too! Me Too!!

Sara does not want to be left behind when it comes to anything involving her siblings.
So when a question is asked...she quickly raises her hand as if saying "me too, me too" even though she has absolutely no idea what she's agreeing to!
Oh Sara, you really do make us smile :)

Playing Around

Teddies

For weeks now Caleb and Anna have been playing "teddies" - they seem to eat, breathe and sleep teddies from early in the morning till they go to bed at night!

I love watching them develop their relationship together - even though they have their fighting moments - they are very close and love to spend time playing with each other!

Starting Young

No time like the present to start memorizing the songs from the Book of Praise!
Here's a really teeny tiny clip of Sara singing...

Girls Night Out - Part 2

We woke up the next morning to beautiful blue skies and bright sunshine... the view from our hotel window
Mmmm...buffet breakfast - a great way to start the day!
Made to order omelets, sausages, french toast, hash browns, bacon, eggs, cereal, toast, english muffins and fresh fruit - the food was great!!
Needless to say we stayed at our table a bit too long...
Door trouble...we did each have our own door key - but for some reason Danielle couldn't open the door - it wasn't the key (it worked for me!) - looks like we'll have to have some more Girl Weekends at lots of different hotels to give Danielle some more practice!
I think we all felt like Carina after breakfast...going up for seconds was a bad idea...but, being dutch we HAD to get our monies worth!!
We enjoyed another round of Settlers (we scored a late check-out, so we were in no rush) - this was our 2nd game - and although the board was destroyed....
I'm sure you can tell who the winner was anyway (again)
What's a hotel visit without some Saturday morning cartoons?!?!  We even managed to find some retro cartoons from our childhood - He-Man and She-Ra!!!  I'm sure everyone is totally jealous of that!!
We did manage to make our way down to the falls yet to take some fantastic pictures of the ice at the falls.  It's really beautiful, always a hi-light of going to Niagara Falls in the winter.
Seriously, there's like 6 inches of ice build up on some of these branches!
 Ice, ice and more ice!
Me taking a picture of Danielle taking a picture of Carina taking a picture of the falls.
You can see which way the ice was blowing!
 Ice along the shore
 3 nicely chilled ladies
Have to get a picture of the falls of course
Danielle suddenly had an urge to break some icicles...I caught her in the middle of her throw...
 The ice doesn't miss anything!
 Carina steeling the pylon
Our last game of Settlers....I finally noticed that in my spot I had the option of keeping my cards and stuff in the drawer, nicely tucked away - Danielle snickered a little every time the drawer opened and closed...I think she was a bit jealous!  Oh, I suppose I should mention that Carina once again kicked our butts....that's 3 games in a row!!! I quit!!!!
On our way home we stopped in St Kitts at the Book Depot, got a few good deals there on some kids stuff (there was SO MUCH to choose from!)
Our final stop before heading home - I've never made it to the Dutch Store in Grimbsy, so this was a nice treat!  Maybe the treat was enjoying a croquette with the ladies....or the droppies...or the 3 police cars that cornered in some truck driver right in front of the store!
All in all it was a great little outing - I had a fantastic time with the girls - relaxing and goofing off - thanks for coming with Danielle and Carina!!!!

Girls Night Out - Part 1

Danielle, Carina and I have been planning a little get away for a number of months now - and despite the fact that Danielle had strep throat, she was a trooper for us and we managed to get to our destination of Niagara Falls
After we checked in we headed down to the manager's reception for some drinks and food
Our time together wouldn't be complete without enjoying some crazy things...we started off on the right foot by enjoying the kiddie rides down by the pool :)
Carina is now officially ready for the Indy 500
"Oh, reeeaalllyyy." replied Carina to the lady at the Keg when we realized the earliest reservation for dinner would be 9:30pm!! Good thing we ate lots at the reception earlier so we weren't too starving!
To kill some time before dinner we decided to hop on the shuttle bus and take a drive around Niagara Falls
After our tour, we came back to our hotel room - it wasn't quite dinner time yet, so we rearranged the room for something to do ;)
We honestly wanted a better view of the falls while playing some games - so we moved the table and chairs from one room to another
Our 1st Settler's game...Carina kicked our butts...but I had a HUGE road spreading across the board (I was the green team)
Ahhhh....supper at last.  We got a $40 voucher with our hotel package - $40 to cover 3 of us at the Keg.  Hmmm....this was going to be tricky.  We really didn't want to go over too much, so finally we managed to find a decent priced meal on the menu (prime rib burgers!)
And, much to our dutch heritage delight, we were owed money in the end...well, they didn't exactly pay us, but we did stay under the $40 we were allotted, and that was good enough to keep up happy!
The candy.  Yes, you should always end your meals with a candy - or two..right?  Well, one wasn't enough for me, so I scammed another one at the entrance desk as we walked out.  Didn't a random couple see me do this and accused me of stealing a second candy!!  I was a bit surprised and not sure what to say (even though he was totally joking and everyone was laughing), so I turned a few shades of red instead ;)
**Day 2 of our outing will be posted tomorrow....stay tuned....**

Hide and Seek

Don't you remember the days when you stood in the middle of the room with your hands on your eyes saying "you can't find me!!" to your parents? or maybe your own kids do that now?
Sara was amusing me with that today, except she was using her shirt instead of her hands :)

Goofy Girl

Oh to be one and a half
To be able to look cute while wearing a bag on your head while pretending to drink tea
To act as if this is completely normal
To just have fun being goofy
What a life - to be one and a half :)

I Think Spring Just Took a Raincheck :(

I was rather shocked at 6am this morning when the phone rang to inform us that school was cancelled.  I honestly didn't believe the weatherman that we would be in for some snowy weather - well, not this much anyway.
As I sit and type the wind is just whipping around outside and it sounds like a mix of ice and snow is coming down.  Glad I'm in here and not outside (even though I should be...the driveway is quickly filling up with drifts!!).  The kids are enjoying a snow day yet again (I think that's 4 this year now!) and my thoughts of spring have come to a dead stop.
Boo.  What happened to spring???

Why?

 Why is it
 that kids feel the need
 to use utensils
the opposite way they should be?
