I should preface this to say that Caleb has been having some high fevers the past day. We weren't sure we would go anywhere today but he seemed to improve a bit and he caught wind that there was a fire station we wanted to visit and well he pretty much put his shoes and coat on immediately after that.
The first place we visited was the fire station. It was pretty exciting for the kids to sit in a truck and see it up close. We even saw one of the other trucks that had been out on a call return to the station. They all got a hat and badge and were proudly wearing them in the van. Below is a pose we got before they went to bed.
After the fire station we headed off to the children's museum however the wait was for close to an hour. We figured that we can do the museum any time (at a cost or course) while the other places on our list were only available today so we left for the Auchmar Estate.
The Auchmar Estate was pretty cool place. They let us walk around the main floor and see the different rooms which where quite large. There was no furniture but even then the design of the house was what we were there to see. I think Laura was ready to move right in while I was overwhelmed with all the renovations that needed to be done. We didn't spend as much time here as we wanted and didn't walk the grounds because it was raining pretty good at that point and Caleb had been shivering since we got there. Time to head home for Caleb's sake.
We hope to get to more places next year. Afterall, which Dutch family doesn't enjoy getting to do things for free!!!
