Alvar and I left for a mini vacation today - off to Howes Caverns in New York state. Our good friend Danielle braved watching the kids for us (thanks Danielle!!!) while we were able to enjoy a little time away from the busyness of life.

Some gloomy skies ahead! Really, we didn't care too much about the weather, the bulk of our tourism would be underground, so it didn't really matter!
On our way out of Canada
Lunch break - never heard of the place, but there were several of them on the way to our destination (just a burger & fries kind of place)
Soon enough the sun did shine for us!
We made it - after just over 6 hours (a couple breaks in between) we arrived at the motel
The view was just beautiful! Mountains were everywhere you looked, full of the colours of fall!
Even the view out of the window of our room was beautiful!
Yes, this would be a Walmart dinner. Chicken fingers, deep fried cheese and potato wedges. I'd have to say it's NOT recommended...a little too much grease in the end for us (although it was definitely a really good price!)
The skies were just as majestic as the fall colours - what a great ending to our first day!
