Cyprus Lake - Part 2

So, our vacation continues on. We went to the Visitor's Centre and learned a lot about the area and it's history and the geography as well. We also learned more about "alvars" as well - see a previous post here about how famous MY Alvar is :)
One of MANY information boards on alvars - it's pretty interesting, and neat to see Alvar's name everywhere!

There was a look-out at the Visitor's Centre as well - beautiful scenery - lots of green forest and blue water!
As much as I loved the view from the top - I did not enjoy the climb up or down from the look out. I'm actually holding on very tight here - and although I'm smiling on the outside, my heart is pounding on the inside...

We spent some time in Tobermory as well - getting a chance to watch the Chi-Cheemaun come in to the dock. What a big ferry!!

The nose of the boat is just starting to open here

Opening wider and wider

Until it's completely open and ready to let the drivers out

And take on new passengers!

It was neat to watch - although I think Caleb found this whole procedure a little too loud for his liking...both ears are covered here

And here...

And still here! Poor guy, he's not a fan of anything loud...

Back at the campsite the kids enjoyed a little excavating egg to dig into

It made quite a mess - thankfully we were outside already

Digging for gold! (well, actually it's only a tiny plastic dinosaur skeleton)

Dollarama has the best stuff :)

The next day we took a boat ride out to the Flower Pot Islands. We were hoping to go on a glass bottom boat tour, but unfortunately we were too late (busy place!). So instead we took the shorter tour on a speed boat - it was a lot of fun (and fast!). I don't have any decent shots of the shipwrecks we saw - but we did get to see two of them - they are only about 6 feet under the water and you can see them very clearly - very neat to see that! After seeing the shipwrecks the boat took us to the Flower Pot Island and we got off to go for a fantastic hike thru the island. The above picture is of Caleb on the boat - he spent the entire time looking between two life jackets at the water whizzing by!

View of a little island from the boat

Some of the scenery from the walk on Flower Pot Island

A flower pot of course!

A family shot in front of one of the flower pots (there are two). Unfortunately I ended up loosing a bunch of pictures somehow - some of the family shots and so on - technology is great sometimes...but we not always...so, this is the best we have of our family...

This was our entire family (Alvar's parents, siblings, nephews/nieces etc) getting ready for a family shot in front of the flower pot - and again, unfortunately the couple shots that we did get of all of us got corrupted and are gone....too bad :(

Another shot of the flower pot

And another (it was very hard to get a clear shot of anything of the scenery as there were always lots of people around!)

Caleb and Alvar's Mom headed back to the beginning of the trail...they kept each other company while the rest of us ventured deeper into the island.

The beautiful water

The hike was just incredible! Some very hard terrain to go thru - lots of rocks, hills and tree roots to navigate around. It was great!!

There was just green everywhere...moss, leaves, grass etc - just gorgeous!

Nothing simple about the trail!

We didn't get the best shot - but Sara loved the boat ride - especially when I turned to the side so she could feel the wind in her face - she was all smiles!!!
