Science Experiment

 Carnations
Plus food colouring and water
Should equal a pretty cool experiment.
Unfortunately not.
The colour was supposed to travel up the stems and change the colours of the petals - but it didn't work.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact I didn't do well in science in high school :)
"A" for effort!

That's too bad. It sure looked like fun! You'll have to ask my sister, being a Science teacher and all! ;-)

We've done it before using daisies instead of carnations, and it work. Maybe you didn't use enough food colouring? It does take a couple days to travel up the stem...

We've used carnations before...it did work, i do agree it might take a few days for it to work up the stems. Perhaps the food colouring isn't concentrated enough??

it does work laura. we even split one stem and put each end in a different colour. i love science experiments in the kitchen window. arlene
Maybe make a fresh bottome cut, when you first pick up the flowers.
